Step out of the back door to miles of walks amongst the beautiful forestry. A large lake nearby houses many types of fish and wildlife and provides the perfect location for a picnic in the summer or an early morning walk in the frost during the winter. Horse riding and cycling are a regular past time around the lanes and local countryside.
Just 10 minutes away in the car is the historic market town of Cowbridge offering a variety of independent shops and restaurants. In addition to the chic fashion, jewellery and home interior shops, a farmers market is held every other Saturday selling local produce where you can buy anything from olives to local lamb or your turkey for Christmas day.
Just 20 minutes away you reach the coast where you will see amazing geological strata’s in the cliff face, sandy and stony beaches and numerous local surfers leading the way into the waves – why not join in?
Just 20 minutes in the opposite direction you will reach the beautiful city of Cardiff known for its civic centre and castle, recently opened shopping areas (including a new addition - John Lewis!) and cosmopolitan and lively cafes and restaurants.
Cardiff is also the home of numerous entertainment venues – St. David’s Hall, The Millennium Centre, The Millennium Stadium and The New Theatre. Catch a musical, an opera or watch Wales in the hope of a home victory on the rugby pitch!
Cardiff bay is also one not to be missed with the barrage enabling sailing and water sports. Water taxis will take you from the large selection of Cafes and restaurants to Penarth marina and the Millennium Stadium in the centre of Cardiff city centre.
... Just a fraction of things to do and see within a short distance of Plas Hen - variety is the spice of life, enjoy!
